How do I pair dbell with a new Router

If you are going to upgrade or change the router, but keeping all the parameters same, ex., the same SSID, same password, same security protocols etc. ideally dbell may work with the new router without having to redo the setup.

If your dbell is connected via Ethernet cable, it will work with new router. If you encounter any issues, restart dbell.

Follow the simple steps below to reconnect dbell with your new routers Wifi:

  • Option-1: Connect dbell to new wifi before removing old router
  • Option-2: Software Reset dbell prior to change router from the app
  • Option-3: Hardware Reset dbell
  • Option-4: Connect to new router Wifi via Ethernet cable

 

Option-1: Connect dbell to new wifi before removing old router

  1. Make sure your new router is broadcasting 2.4G Wifi SSID
  2. Open dbell app
  3. Go to setup – gear icon
  4. Go to Manage wireless Networks (old app -> Wi-Fi setting)
  5. Connect dbell to your new routers Wifi
  6. Now power off old router

 

Option-2: Software Reset dbell prior to change router from the app

For new dbell app

  1. Open dbell app
  2. When device is online >>Go to Setup settings.png>>Scroll down, Click “Reset dbell
  3. Wait until dbell says ‘Welcome’
  4. Follow in app instructions to add dbell to your new router’s Wifi

For dbell HD live app:

  1. Open dbell HD live app
  2. When device is online >>Go to Setup settings.png>>Click “Restore factory default
  3. Wait until dbell says ‘Welcome’

All the settings of dbell will be set to factory defaults.

  • You need to delete the dbell from the app if you are using dbell HD live app.
  • Redo the setup like as if you are doing a new dbell setup.
  • dbell HD live app -> Add dbell using OneTouch setup
  • If you are connected via Ethernet cable -> Scan Network and follow on-screen instructions

 

Option-3: Hardware Reset dbell

  1. Unplug dbell indoorbell/chime from wall outlet
  2. Make sure dbell video doorbell is connected to power
  3. Press and hold the dbell video doorbell call button until you hear “RESET SUCCESSFUL”
  4. Wait 1-min for dbell to restart
  5. Redo setup dbell with app

NOTE: – It may take from 90 secs to 330 seconds depending on the firmware version inside dbell. We recommend running a stopwatch to make sure you know how long you are holding. This method works 99.9% time – so if it doesn’t work for you first-time, please try again and make sure you hold it steadily. It works.

  • All the settings of dbell will be set to factory defaults.
  • You need to delete the dbell from the app
  • Redo the setup like as if you are doing a new dbell setup.
  • Add dbell as First-time New dbell setup using OneTouch setup
  • If you are connected via Ethernet cable -> Scan Network and follow on-screen instructions

 

Option-4: Connect to new router Wifi via Ethernet cable

  1. Power-up dbell
  2. Open your dbell app
  3. When dbell is online go to >> Setup (gear icon)
  4. Manage Wireless Networks (old app -> Wi-Fi setting)
  5. Select New router Wifi name
  6. Enter New Wifi password
  7. Wait for dbell to restart
  8. Once dbell is online disconnect Ethernet cable. dbell will go disconnect/Offline/Online.
  9. If your Wifi password was incorrect – dbell will not work – retry the setup.

How to add or remove micro SD card

Micro SDHC card is located just below the white connector at the back of dbell.

To remove micro SD card follow the simple steps below:

    1. Pull the cover down as shown by the arrow
    2. Push the card to release
    3. Once the card is released, pull the card to remove
    4. Place the cover back to its place

dbell app setup can be done in two ways:

  • Wireless New dbell setup (Answer “Yes” to setup screen)

  • Scan Network

 

Wireless New dbell setup

1. Power-up dbell:

  • Power-up dbell using supplied power adapter or
  • Using supplied USB to DC power cable. Connect the USB end of the power cable to your smartphone charger and DC end to the dbell.
  • After you power-up the dbell, it will take approximately a minute for the dbell to be ready for setup. Please wait for the “Welcome” sound to continue.
  • If your dbell has been connected to power for longer than 1 minute, you won’t hear any sound.

 

2. Download dbell app

Checklist before launching app:

Whichever Network/Wifi your phone is connected to, that is the network your dbell will be sync at setup.

Make sure dbell and your phone/tablet is connected to same 2.4G Wifi Network. dbell is not compatible with 5G Network.

If you have an extender in your home/office, and wish to connect dbell to the extender, make sure that your phone is connected to your extender too.

 

3. Launch dbell app

 

For successful Wireless app setup please follow few simple steps:

  • Smartphone/tablet is close to dbell
  • Phone is Not in Silent mode. For iPhone ring/silent toggle on the top of the left edge of the phone is flipped to ring (red dot not visible)
  • Do not make/receive call using same phone while doing setup
  • Turn Off Bluetooth and disconnect any hearing aids, headset, Earbuds & In-Ear Headphones only for setup.
  • Do not play music on the same phone while doing setup
  • Remember to re-connect Bluetooth after setup is complete

It is very important to enter the correct WiFi password in order to achieve connection. Please make sure that all characters are correct and remember that they are case sensitive. 

Test your dbell from app

  • Once setup is complete, test your dbell from app
  • Note: if dbell and your phone is close, there will be feedback noise. For test, your phone should be 3-4m/10-12ft away from dbell

 

4. dbell Installation

  • Once you are happy with the setup, power-off dbell by disconnecting power to it.
  • Turn off power at the Fuse or Breaker panel
  • Uninstall your current doorbell push button
  • Insert 2 disconnected wires from doorbell into the dbell connectors. Pull them lightly to test they are secure.
  • Locate old indoorbell which used to ring before dbell.
  • Open the old indoorbell’s cover unit by gently pulling outward
  • Disconnect wire labelled “T” (Trans) and “F” (Front)
  • Twist the ends of T & F together with wire nuts.
  • Turn ON the breaker panel
  • It will take approx. 1 min. for dbell to start operating.

 

5. Final Test

  • Push dbell call button. Your smartphone/Tablet should ring.
  • If app doesn’t ring, check wifi signal strength. Search for “signal strength” in dbell knowledge base.

Congratulations – you have completed your setup and installation successfully!

 

  • Scan Network method

1. Network connection

  • Connect your dbell to a router/switch with a CAT5 patch cable. One side of CAT5 patch cable goes into RJ45 slot of the dbell and the other side goes into the router slot labeled “LAN”.

2. Power-up dbell:

  • Power-up dbell using supplied power adapter or
  • Using supplied USB to DC power cable. Connect the USB end of the power cable to your smartphone charger and DC end to the dbell.
  • After you power-up the dbell, it will take approximately a minute for the dbell to be ready for setup. Please wait for the “Welcome” sound to continue.
  • If your dbell has been connected to power for longer than 1 minute, you won’t hear any sound.

 

3. Download dbell app

Checklist before launching app:

Whichever Network/Wifi your phone is connected to, that is the network your dbell needs to be connected via Network patch cable.

 

4. Launch dbell app

  • If dbell is connected to the Network, app will find your dbell camera for completing setup. OR
  • Select Scan Network and follow on-screen setup wizard, for support watch the setup video

 

Test your dbell from app

  • Once setup is complete, test your dbell from app
  • Note: if dbell and your phone is close, there will be feedback noise. For test, your phone should be 3-4m/10-12ft away from dbell

  • Once you are happy with the setup, power-off dbell by disconnecting power to it.
  • Turn off power at the Fuse or Breaker panel

To view dbell Live/X2 video stream on TV, there are few options:

  1. Smart TV Running Android OS

1. To view your dbell live stream on any smart TV Running Android OS

  1. Download and open dbell TV app from Google play store or Amazon app store
  2. Follow on-screen easy setup
  3. Enjoy viewing live video stream from your local dbell and from remote dbell like viewing your cottage dbell

  1. Download and open dbell TV app from Amazon app store
  2. Follow on-screen easy setup

3. To view your dbell live stream on any TV with a browser:

  1. Open your dbell HD Live app and go to “Setup” of the doorbell you wish to stream on your TV.
  2. Go to “Network Info” on the dbell app
  3. Write down the “IP address” that is displayed on the screen
  4. Turn on your Smart TV and open the browser
  5. Type in the “IP address” that you wrote down and type it in the search bar of the browser (make sure to put :81 at the end)
  6. After pressing enter, you will be prompted to enter the “Username” and “Password of your doorbell, and after inputting the correct information, you will see the live stream of your doorbell via your browser

4. To view your dbell live stream on any TV connected to an NVR (Network Video Recorder)

The instructions are based on ONVIF compatible NVR. For your particular NVR it could be a little bit different setup, but the process is similar to adding an IP camera to the NVR

  1. In dbell app go to SETUP>> Network Info >> Write down the dbell IP address
  2. Go to your NVR setup screen, follow the NVR instructions on adding IP camera
  3. Select add IP camera
  4. Enter the dbell IP address found on Step-1
  5. Select ONVIF protocol, Port # 10080
  6. Press OK.
  7. dbell HD live is added to your NVR.

I have changed my phone. How do I pair dbell with my new phone?

  1. Download dbell HD Live app
  2. Open dbell app
  3. Press ‘Add Device’
  4. Select LAN search
  5. Select the dbell shown on the search result
  6. Enter user name and password
  7. Press ‘Done’

HD+ app setup

Download and install “dbell HD+” app from the app store
Power-up dbell using DC adapter, wait for dbell to start and Welcome you.
dbell is now in quick configuration mode, light will be flashing.

Make sure your Smartphone or Tablet is connected to 2.4GHz WiFi

  1. Open dbell app, Tap ‘Add Device’
  2. Tap ‘SmartLink’
  3. Enter your ‘WiFi password’ carefully
  4. Tap ‘Start’. auto configuration will start, please wait until complete

If your WiFi password was entered correctly, dbell will connect to WiFi
and announce setup is successful Press the doorbell found
If nothing is visible, press ‘Refresh’

Troubleshooting Tips:

How to RESET dbell HD+

  1. Use Reset Key from the dbell box or find a paper clip
  2. Remove Reset sticker at the back of dbell, please don’t throw the sticker, reuse it.
  3. Insert Reset Key or paper clip and Hold RESET button for 20sec.
  4. dbell HD+ will make announcement, Reset to default and restart.

Pair doorbell with Android® device

Setup can be done two different ways:

Method A:

dbell-ethernet

  1. Connect dbell using LAN Cable to your Router
  2. Power dbell using supplied AC adapter, wait until you hear voice prompt from dbell
  3. Run dbell app
  4. Click ‘add doorbell’
  5. Click ‘Search
  6. Click ‘Search result ID Field’
  7. Click ‘’Done’
  8. Select Setup/Gear icon
  9. Select Wi-Fi Settings > Manage Network
  10. Select your Wi-Fi name from the list
  11. Enter your Wi-Fi password and click done

Now you can disconnect LAN cable from dbell. dbell is now ready for installation on your door. dbell will remember your Wi-Fi settings.

Method B:

  1. Press and Hold dbell call button until you hear the voice prompt ” Network Configuration Mode”
  2. Open device “Settings”
  3. Select “Wi-Fi”
  4. Select dbell SSID “BELL-XXXXXX”
  5. Enter password 123456789
  6. Press/Tap ‘Join’
  7. A check mark will confirm the connection, Exit Settings app
  8. Open the dbell app
  9. Press ‘Please click here to add doorbell’
  10. Type your preferred name for the smart doorbell,
  11. Press ‘Search’, Select search result
  12. Press ‘Done’
  13. If you can see ‘Online’, you are connected to your dbell. Press ‘Setup’/Gear icon to continue
  14. Select WiFi settings > Manage Network
  15. Select your Wi-Fi SSID name
  16. Enter your Home or Office Wi-Fi Password and press ‘Done’

Press the ‘doorbell name’ or where it says ‘online’ to see the camera, you will see the live view from the dbell camera

8. Open the dbell app

9. Press ‘click here to add doorbell’

10. Type your preferred name for the smart doorbell, Press ‘Search’

11. Select the doorbell from the Search Result window

12. Press ‘Done’

13. If you see the status is ‘Online’, you are connected to your dbell. Press ‘Gear icon’ to continue

14. Select Manage WiFi Network

15. Select your Wi-Fi SSID name

16. Enter your Home or Office Wi-Fi Password and press ‘Done’

17. Press the ‘doorbell name’ or where it says ‘online’ to see the camera
